Paul Rhodes has been working in Apartment Maintenance for almost three decades. He has instructed thousands of on-site team members (maintenance and operations), hundreds of management companies, multiple associations, and in 48 out of 50 states.
"Each of us carries a skills toolbox that we pull tools from to do whatever it is we need to do." Robert "Dusty" Rhodes.
These words from my father summarize my approach to instruction and learning. Every experience we have can add to our skills toolbox.
Directional Maintenance Services helps add new tools as well as refine the ones we all already have for better operations.
As a National Apartment Association Education Institute Faculty member, Paul provides learning opportunities related to the multifamily service industry.
Paul instructs and proctors the EPA 608 as well as the
Pool and Hot Tub Alliance's Certified Pool Operator Credential.
Paul Rhodes started in the apartment industry 29 years ago, picking up trash at a Roswell, GA, community. Before going national, his on-site history included working in multiple service-focused roles and as a pool builder for all property types. In 2005, Paul changed focus to educating the Maintenance Industry as the Lead Instructor for HD Supply Customer Training, where he expanded the reach of apartment education by increasing the use of digital facilitation tools. In 2011, he became the National Maintenance Instructor for the National Apartment Association Education Institute, responsible for maintaining the Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technician curriculum. He delivered the program to Associations and Management Companies Nationwide while updating it and other NAAEI credentials and programs.
In 2020, when the pandemic canceled all classes, he joined The Life Properties as the Director of Maintenance Operations, writing policies and organizing the structure of on-site repair operations. Paul joined Brookfield Properties as the Senior Manager of Maintenance Learning in June 2022, where he is creating a Maintenance Learning team focused on growing the skills of technicians and maintenance teams at Brookfield Properties communities. He continues to be involved in all areas of Multifamily Maintenance management and regularly speaks and is a part of conferences, webinars, or any other event where learning can occur.
Paul holds the following designations: CAMT, CAPS, CAMT+E, CAMT+L, EPA 608 Universal, PHTA-CPO Instructor, OSHA OTI 510+511, and maintains membership as NAAEI Faculty.
